Sharing is caring!

Whenever we go to the donut store in the morning, my husband and son love to get the Sausage Kolaches instead of donuts. Though, we usually just call them Sausage Rolls.

But, these are pretty easy to make at home with your air fryer.

What do you need to make Sausage Kolaches?

You’ll need a few things as you’ll need to make the dough before cooking them in the air fryer.

Sausage Kolaches ingredients
  • flour
  • milk
  • active dry yeast
  • sugar
  • melted butter
  • eggs
  • breakfast sausage links

How do you make Air Fryer Sausage Kolaches?

Place warm milk, sugar and yeast into a mixing bowl. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes to foam up.

Add the melted butter, 2 eggs and half the flour. Mix with a dough hook until we’ll combined. Once combined. Add the remaining flour.

Once dough has formed a ball, place dough ball in a well-oiled bowl, cover and let rise for 2 hours until it doubles in size.

Place sausage links into a skillet and brown them off until fully cooked.

Brown the breakfast sausage to go in your sausage kolaches.

Place the dough ball on a floured surface and divide into 12 equal parts.

Roll out each section into a rectangle and roll each sausage link with dough.

Let rolled kolaches rise for 10 more minutes.

Before and after cooking the sausage kolaches in the air fryer.

Place kolaches in oiled air fryer basket, coat with egg wash and cook on 400° for 6 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove and let cool.

Can you make these up ahead of time?

You can, but I don’t think they taste as fresh. The dough is pretty much just like donut dough, so day-old donuts do taste like day old versus making them fresh. And, I think this is true for the sausage kolaches as well. If you can, I’d recommend making them as close to serving as you can.

How do you store leftover Air Fryer Sausage Kolaches?

While they don’t taste as amazing as they are fresh out of the air fryer, you can also store the leftover sausage kolaches. I keep them in a sealed container like a ziplock bag for up to 2 days.
