One of my favorite things about an air fryer is how easy it is to make little teeny tiny hand pies like these Air Fryer Strawberry Mini Pies.

With a can of pie filling and some refrigerated pie crusts, you can make this dessert in minutes! And, they are so yummy!

What do you need to make Air Fryer Strawberry Mini Pies?

If you want to make most any mini hand pies in the air fryer, it’s best to keep a package of refrigerator pie crusts on hand.

For these Air Fryer Strawberry Mini Pies, you’ll need a can of strawberry pie filling and some water.

You can also choose to use an egg wash or some water and sprinkle turbinado sugar on the tops of your hand pies.

I have two products that make these air fryer hand pies super fast and simple.

  • I have this little stainless steel dumpling maker. It’s very sturdy and good quality. I’ve had a plastic one in the past that just fell apart after one use. This metal one is excellent. It makes 4-inch hand pies that are perfect in size.
  • I also have this set of cookie cutters. One of the middle cutters is 4 inches and is perfect to make the circles for the hand pies to fit into the dumpling maker.

Take the package of refrigerator pie crusts out of the fridge and let them warm up a little on the counter for 1o-20 minutes.

Unroll a pie crust on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper.

Use the cookie cutter to cut 4-inch circles. If you are strategic about it, you can get 7-8 circles. I can get 7 circles and then I roll the leftover dough to get an 8th and sometimes a 9th pie crust circle.

Add 2-3 strawberries from the pie filling in the center of each pie crust circle.

Fill a small bowl with 1 tablespoon of water.

Right before adding the pie circle to the dumpling maker, dip your finger in the water bowl and run it around the edge of the pie circle.

Place the pie circle in the dumpling maker and press. The water will help keep the crust sealed while baking.

If you want to add some turbinado sugar to the tops of the hand pies, combine the egg with a tablespoon of water and beat until smooth.

Brush the egg wash over the top of each hand pie and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.

If you have someone allergic to eggs, like my 3 year old, you can brush the tops of the pies with water or heavy cream and add the sugar, and they come out nice, too.

In this photo, the pie on the left has the egg wash with the turbinado sugar and the pie on the right is just water and turbinado sugar.

Place the mini pies in an air fryer without touching each other.

Place the hand pies in the air fryer where they are not touching.

Bake at 350 F degrees for about 12 minutes, until golden brown.

Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
